Kim Dyes Yarn Florentine Silk is a gently glowing fingering weight of 100% Silk. Despite its luster and slippery softness, silk is a strong fiber that creates light and warm knits.

Kim's hand-dyed tonal and speckly colors come alive on this silk base.

Weight/Length: 100 g/436 yards
Gauge/Needle Size: US Needle size 1-3
Care: Hand wash gently, lay flat to dry.

While this silk will have you glowing on the outside, Shelley's "Amora" scarf will have you glowing on the inside.

When traveling through Paris, Shelley was struck by the fact that all the Parisian women seemed to be wearing scarves, and all styled the same way - looped once, then tied. So she designed this ultra-simple project that alternates smaller and larger needles to give the silk some structure. The smaller-needle sections give the finished project more stability and a surprise effect: a subtly scalloped edge that’s especially pretty when worn as a shawl.

Loops trooper Carla knit her Amora with one skein of Florentine silk in Tuscany and US Size 4(3.5mm) and 13(9mm) needles.

Florentine Silk is perfect when partnered with Kim's Cotton Candy Lace for "Syrinx" by Stephanie Earp. This ethereal and feminine pullover is a stunner. The simple yoke top is shaped by changing your gauge as you knit - only one or two increase rounds (depending on your size) are knit just after the cast on - from then on, all shaping is created by changing your needles and adding in a second yarn! The loose gauge creates a sheer, floating fabric, ideal for layering over tanks and tees on cool summer evenings.

The Syrinx sweater is designed to be worn with about 4-5" of positive ease, and includes finished bust sizes from 36.5" - 66". You'll need two skeins each of Florentine Silk and Cotton Candy Lace for sizes 36.5-53", or three skeins of each for 56.25-66". Pattern recommends needle sizes US 1, 4, 7, and 9.

Evelyn knit her Syrinx with Florentine Silk and Cotton Candy Lace, both in Silver Lining.
