Hedgehog Fibres Tweedy
Tweedy is here, fresh from the mill!
It's a tweed yarn and the colored bits are hand-dyed waste - the ties that are taken off the hand dyed skeins. Hedgehog saves them very diligently and it's a labor of love.
Hedgehog found a mill that could process these, which means re-carding them, blending and spinning into yarn again. The result is lovely grey-ish tweed yarn with colorful speckles, and the latest version, "Noir" on a black base with colorful speckles.
Besides the thread waste, recycled wool was used, making 50% of the total content recycled. The result is soft, yet wooly and not superwash. It blooms beautifully after washing.
This yarn FLIES out of here. We are only able to get a limited amount!
Tweedy is 230m/100g of 50% Falkland Merino Wool, 37.5% Recycled wool and 12.5% thread wasted.
