Round Mountain Fibers is a boutique fiber-arts studio based in Brattleboro, Vermont, offering an incredibly unique line of hand-dyed yarn inspired by nature. We have selected two of their collections in their Willow DK-weight yarn base to jumpstart your spring and summer knitting: Ornithology (inspired by birds) and Aquatic (inspired by fish). Each skein is lovingly hand dyed: no two skeins are identical. Each skein is a 4-ply 100% Superwash Merino DK, 100 grams and 250 yards. We love the flexibility of choosing individual semi-solid and variegated skeins to add to the 3-skein sets as needed.
The May Ornithology Collection pulls colors from the Roundbill bird, and the Aquatic Collection is based on the Pumpkinseed fish.
For the May collections, we are eyeing the Fade Oh! My Fade shawl by sansandadouknits. You will need 1 Fade Set to complete the project as a 3-color shawl or 1 Fade Set and 2 extra skeins for the 5-color version. The pattern uses size 6 needles and is available on ravelry.com.
And Shellie Anderson's Faded Halo pullover is another winning contender on our to-do list! You'll need 1 Fade Set and 1-2 additional skeins and size 5 & 6 needles for sizes 32-48". The pattern is available on ravelry.com.
