​​The yarnstory: 

When we decided to partner with Adella of LolaBean Yarn Co. for our first Knit Stars project wall, Shelley asked Adella, “What is your dream ‘larn’” (Lola's word for yarn). Together they developed a dreamy fingering-weight base of 80% merino + 10% cashmere + 10% silk. And "Dream Bean" was born! 

Fast forward to 2020, when Gaye “GG” Glasspie and Adella decided to work together on Season 5 of Knit Stars. GG has always supported women-led businesses, especially ones with family in the foreground. When someone asks what makes Adella’s yarn so special to her, GG almost always replies “I swear she bathes the yarn in Lola’s bathwater…” and then promptly bursts out laughing.

This listing is for LolaBean's hand-dyed colors on the "Dream Bean" base along with the solid colorways Adella curated, which were dyed by our friends in Peru to pair with her hand-dyed colors.

"Rock it Tee" by Tanis Lavalee

This super-versatile v-neck tee is worked top-down, flat until the neck shaping is complete, then in the round after that. 

Make yours with LolaBean Dream Bean and you’ll have a supercute wardrobe staple you’ll reach for all year-round!

You’ll need 1 (1, 1, 1, 2, 2) (2, 2, 2, 2, 2) skeins EACH of 2 colors to make this tee, with finished measurements of 32 (35, 38, 41, 44, 48) (52, 56, 60, 64, 68)” at bust. It’s shown on the model with about 6” of positive ease, size 5(3.75mm) needles are required.

"Stormy Sky Shawl" by Ksenia Naidyon

Why not treat yourself to one of these special skeins, and cast on Stormy Sky Shawl by Ksenia Naidyon. The pattern is free on Ravelry, full of fun, easy to memorize textural stitches, and believe it or not, only takes one skein of Dream Bean on size US #9 needles! A crochet option is also included and a size 4.0mm(G) hook is required.

"Outline Tee" by Jessie Maed Designs

The “Outline Tee” by Jessie Maed Designs could be a staple in your wardrobe this summer. It’s a simple silhouette made super luscious with LolaBean “Dream Bean” silk/cashmere/merino yarn, accented by what GG would call some added “business” - the extra touches of the eyelets and detailing on the neck, back, and sleeves. 

This is a great project that you can take with you on the go this summer! Pack up your circular needles, find a patch of sun or a hammock, and get knitting!

"Boxy" by Joji Locatelli

Boxy (shown on Loretta in color "Red Your Mind") is a very simple modern sweater, with a very wide body and skinny sleeves. A little short row section in the shoulders adds an interesting texture to the sleeves.

To fit bust sizes: 28/30, (32/34, 36/38, 40/42, 44/46, 48/50, 52/54)" you will need 4 (4, 4, 4, 5, 5, 5) skeins of Dream Bean.

Pattern calls for US 4 (3.5mm) straight or circular needles for the body, and US 2.5 (3.0mm) circular needles or DPNs for the neckband and sleeves.

"Misurina" by Caitlin Hunter

"Misurina" is a top down yoke sweater featuring lace, cables and colorwork for a trifecta of knitting techniques! The loose gauge and relaxed fit are both flattering and comfortable to wear. The body length is easily adjusted to suit your preference, and you can choose from a purl dot pattern or an eyelet pattern for the body.

We used solid Grey Day for our main color and hand-dyed Island Blue for our contrast color. 

This sweater is designed to fit with 6-9” (15-23 cm) of positive ease at the bust and 2-3” (5-7.5 cm) of positive ease at the upper arm. Pattern includes sizing for finished bust circumference from 36-72" (91.5-183 cm). 

For chest sizes 32"-56" (91.5-142.5 cm), you will need two skeins of your MC and one skein of CC. For chest sizes 56-72" (142.5-183 cm), you will need three skeins of MC and one skein of CC. 

"Sunrise Over Blue Skies" by Fatimah Hinds

"Sunrise Over Blue Skies" is easy to throw on and go, as comfortable as a sweatshirt with details that keep it neat and elegant. The color combinations are endless. We used hand-dyed Quagmire as Color 1 and solid Grey Day as Color 2. 

This sweater is designed to be worn with about 3" of positive ease.

Finished bust sizes: 32, 36, 40, (44, 48, 52) in / 81, 91, 102, (112, 122, 132) cm

Yardage Requirements:
Color 1 (top): 1, 1, 1, (1, 1, 2) skeins
Color 2 (bottom): 2, 2, 2, (3, 3, 3) skeins

"Paint the Town" by Annie Baker Designs

"Paint the Town" is a colorwork scarf, knit from end to end using three colors of fingering weight yarn. This bias knit stockinette stitch design has striped sections and garter stitch borders. Instructions are included for both striped and solid scarves. 

To knit Paint the Town, you'll need 1 skein each of three colors. We used hand-dyed Goldrush, plus solids Grey Day and Olive You. Pattern calls for a US size 2.5 (3mm) needle.

Measurement after blocking:  17 inches (43cm) wide by 72 inches (183cm) long
