Created for Alice Hammer’s Ladderback Jacquard with a French Twist workshop, the Manège sweater introduces the Ladderback Jacquard technique in a way that feels achievable, even if colorwork has intimidated you in the past. The technique helps manage long floats while creating a fabric that feels smooth, lightweight, and comfortable to wear. The finished sweater has that effortless French-inspired feel Alice is known for: polished without feeling fussy, cozy without feeling heavy.

Choose Nimbus in Red and Undyed Ecru for a bold, classic colorwork look, or Nimbus in Natural Brown and Undyed Ecru for a softer, more rustic palette with beautiful natural depth.

The Yarn

This kit features Fonty’s beautiful Nimbus base, a refined sport-weight yarn made from two exceptional 100% merino fibers: Mérinos d’Arles from southern France and Portuguese merino from the Alentejo region. Nimbus starts with a softly heathered base before the yarn is dyed, giving the colors a gentle, cloudy depth that feels rich without being overly bright. It has beautiful stitch definition, which makes it especially lovely for colorwork, while still feeling soft and comfortable in the finished fabric.

The Kit

Each kit is available in four size options ranging from S through 6XL and includes the yarn needed to complete Alice Hammer’s Manège sweater in your selected palette. Choose between Nimbus in Red and Undyed Ecru for a bold, graphic take on classic colorwork, or Nimbus in Natural Brown and Undyed Ecru for a softer, earthier feel with beautiful natural depth.

The sweater is designed with 5–10 cm of positive ease and uses the Ladderback Jacquard technique to create a smooth, comfortable fabric with cleaner floats and lightweight warmth.
